Lord Finesse "Rare & Unreleased Vol.2"

Lord Finesse est de retour et frappe fort en cette fin/début d'année avec la sortie de trois vinyles et d'un CD d'inédits, d'unreleased et autres raretés de la belle époque.

Tout d'abord, le second volume de la série des Rare & Unreleased plus centré rap et meilleur que son prédécesseur (toujours disponible ici), je retiendrais quelques perles comme le "Uptown Style" de Cap'Kirk, le "Soul Plan" avec Roy Ayers ou encore la version freestyle de "Off & On" des Trends of Culture qui n'atteint pas la folie de l'original mais qui part quand même bien en couille.

On enchaîne avec le troisième volume de ses excellents Rare Selections EP qui ne sortent que en vinyle. Ce volume est d'ailleurs mon préféré en partie à cause du monstrueux remix de "Keep The Crowd Listening" orchestré par Dj Premier. En bonus, je vous mets le maxi "Here I Come Remix/Keep The Crowd Listening Remix" qui était offert pour tout achat des trois volumes des Rare Selections EP ou pour l'achat d'au moins deux Rare Selections EP Vol. 3.

Et on termine avec Dj Mike Smooth qui édite pour la première fois le EP The South Boogie (limité à 200 exemplaires) de Shorty Long qui rassemble des morceaux période 94-96 produit par Show, Ahmad, Buckwild et Mike Smooth. J'avais découvert ce protégé de Finesse d'abord par le biais de son morceau "Let's Get At It" sur la réédition de la Logilo MixTape Vol. 2 puis avec "Shorty's Doin His Own Thing" sur le premier Rare & Unreleased de Lord Finesse.

Phat Blunts : Rap Unda Tha Influence

Ça faisait un petit moment que je voulais vous faire partager cette compilation que j'avais trouvé par hasard dans un bac à 5€. C'est sorti en 1996 sur Priority Records et ça rassemble une dizaine de morceaux sur le thème de la défonce au sens large (très original comme concept au passage).

Pas de guerre ici tant le thème est fédérateur, on retrouve donc aussi bien The Beatnuts, Mad Flava, BDP que N.W.A, Too $hort et Tone-Lòc. Mon morceau préféré reste l'underground hit de 1991 "Don't Give Me No Bammer" de RBL Posse dont il ne reste aujourd'hui plus qu'un seul membre (Black C), les autres (Hitman et Mr.Cee), étant tous mort par balle.

Everybody knows DJ Premier is the best, not because of the countless classic albums he was a part of, but because everything he did was dope.

At some point, he must have realized that most people don't have every 12" and random album cut that he produced, so he started the Rare Play series. Contained within this CD are some of the best rare DJ Premier beats, as chosen by DJ Premier. Worth it for the Sonja Blade track alone !

Suite de "Inside Lookin'Out" sorti cet été, on retrouve le même artwork à cela près que Primo a demandé à son neveu de 12 ans d'y ajouter sa touche personnelle.
